L'Afrique Music Festival

We we're lucky enough to work with Wabehia in designing the logo, flyers and posters for this years L'Afrique music festival which was held in Newcastle. As well as this we designed and built a new website for them.

Wabehia aims to present and promote African cultural enrichment and help bring about a greater understanding and appreciation of African culture. Forthcoming events will be featured on the website (Tours, Fashion, Art, traditional artifacts, exhibitions and Local Events.

We look forward to working with them again on next years line-up.

Resource Material For Streetwise Project

After several months of working with the Streetwise young people's project, we've finally completed designing and printing all the resource material which will be used to teach kids about sex. I have to say that this is one of the most satisfying projects that I have worked on, so it's good to see it finally come to fruition and get the printed material back.

The brief on this was to come up with a set of characters that would capture the kids attention [and believe me that's not an easy feat as I discovered after sitting in with a focus group of 11 year olds], whilst also being used as a learning resource. It was with this in mind that I worked with illustrator Richard Short to come up with a cartoon gang which would feature in the design process across a range of multimedia.

Cover Artwork For The Vivians 7" Single

After the band was signed up by Beggars Banquet at the begining of the year, I was more than happy to take care of the sleeve artwork for their 7" vinyl single release. I'd seen the band play and was knocked out by their brand of punked up rock n roll, they reminded me of a young New York Dolls.

Left Hand Gang Design Studio

I've just recently moved into Studio 24 of the Biscuit Tin, located on Warwick Street in Heaton. It's run by the people behind th Biscuit Factory Gallery and will eventually be home to 40 artists / creative minds. It's still in the process of being finished but new people are moving in all the time.

It's nice to be surrounded by people doing good things, it fuels the creative fire! Already there are painters, photographers, a stained glass artist, motion graphics and street artists who are currently working out of this renovated building, it has a kind of bohemian East Berlin artist community.
